We’ve all entertained the thought of creating a start-up or opening the perfect little coffee shop but what are some key factors that many people miss?

Starting a business is no easy feat especially in times where entrepreneurs are building start ups around every corner. Once you get started it’s either you give it your all or fall into the sea of other unsuccessful businesses. Great ideas can become immobile without perseverance and a positive mindset.. John Spence and Kim Linster offer some tips to advance in your growing business:

Have Passion

There’s no point in chasing something that doesn’t give you that sense of fulfillment. I used to go searching for “the next big thing” to pursue but doing a little self-reflection helps you find out what you really want out of creating a business. Whether it’s serving coffee or developing an app, as long as it’s something you’re glad to wake up doing. Producing what you are passionate about gives you the internal drive to continue striving for your goal.

Work With the Right People

How you build your team is crucial to advancing in your business. This does not just mean hiring the best engineer or salesperson, your team is your support system. Your team will become your second family, so find people you can work and laugh with. There’s nothing better than getting in a meeting where creative juices are flowing:that bonding also builds more loyalty to your company.

Never Stop Reaching

Don’t settle after you’ve reached your initial goal! Establishing your name is just the beginning. Building a business  is always a work-in-progress. Once you’ve developed your following, ask yourself how you can you better enhance the user’s experience? Maybe opening more locations or being more available to your clients? Continue analyzing and improving as there’s always more room to grow and learn.

There’s No Capacity for Knowledge

Being a business owner does not automatically mean you understand all parts of your business. Educating yourself on each aspect of your company helps you see it more clearly, where the issues are, and how you can improve them. Your field is changing everyday whether you like it or not. It’s helpful to read up on what other similar companies are doing and see what’s working in your market.

Your business is your own lovechild, it has to be nurtured and taken care of constantly. It takes a village to raise a company so be passionate and strive for the vision you see as you’re working the long-hours and late nights.
