In an article for Entrepreneur, Zechariah Newman(@ZechariahNewman) discusses the personal habits entrepreneurs should avoid to run a successful business. Find out how small changes can lead to big results.

  1. Lack of rest

Without a good night’s rest, it could take twice as long to complete the same project as on a fully rested mind. A tired mind is slow, yet entrepreneurs are famous for burning the candle at both ends, not allowing their bodies to recuperate.

Stop wearing the badge of busyness. Rest to be more productive, creative and efficient.”

  1. Poor personal finances

Mishandling personal finances causes a lot of stress. That anxiety will affect other areas of your life including your business. For instance, raising your salary might give you more cash flow, but those funds could be used to expand your company. You don’t have to live on frozen dinners, but making wise financial decisions in your personal life will benefit your business.

  1. Relational problems

Problems in relationships, especially serious ones, can wreak havoc on your company and even shut it down -- taking energy away from what needs to be done and sucking the life out of you. Take time to work out problems and get rid of toxic relationships. Fix these issues before they get out of control and jeopardize your chances.

  1. Lack of exercise

Entrepreneurs are notorious for not exercising, but when you neglect your health it will reduce your mental and physical stamina. It may be intimidating if you’ve never exercised before, so take it slow but be consistent. Train your body to withstand barriers and maintain growth over time.

  1. Struggling with boundaries

Not being able to tell the difference between a concern and a responsibility will cause many entrepreneurs to become frustrated and burnt out. Without boundaries, the world is on your shoulders. Create firm boundaries. Address your responsibilities and let other people handle theirs.

Working on these habits will help you bring your business to the next level. Progress doesn’t happen overnight, but takes time. Narrow down your biggest culprits to target them with these tips.
