4 Proven Methods to Increase your Social Media Reach
Julian Tiongson | April 4, 2016

Social Media is all about sharing your content and getting others to view, like or share it. What good is it if you don’t have an audience? That is where Greg Miller’s (@gchicago) article from @SMExaminer comes into play. His top 4 ways to help drive more people to your content can get you started on the right foot.
With whom are you sharing?
Always keep your goal in mind. What do you want your business to be known for? Whether that is being a thought leader, promoting business trends, or even just a place to get the latest news. Once that is figured out, you can now segment your market to share content with. To start, keep your reach within your industry and as it begins to grow, then you can expand.
“The content you deliver to your network of advocate employees should be a daily mix of original and third-party content that will keep them engaged in industry discussions throughout the year.”
Advocates sharing
Make it easy for them! People do not want to go out of their way for you unless they are getting something in return. Whether it is your latest blog post, tweet or event, create a shareable link for them to personalize it. They may like what you have to say and want to expand with their own take on the topic. Reaching out by email is also a good way to let advocates know you are writing about or have mentioned them. It doesn’t hurt to even send out a tweet as well to create some buzz.
Content Discovery Team
Expand your content knowledge. Don’t be afraid to explore with third-party content to find other useful resources. Create a list or schedule for team members to contribute a certain number of links per day to help keep content flow consistent. The Internet is full with resources that many do not see. Bringing useful content to your users not only builds traffic to your business but more importantly credibility. Whether your most useful channel is Facebook or LinkedIn, focus more on the platform that has generated the most leads. More importantly, ask for feedback from your groups to find out what they like and don’t like about your content delivery.
Scaling Network
Don’t be afraid to reach out to others. Look to other industry influencers who may want to get involved with your work and help increase your reach. What’s the point of creating content if no one views it? Become loyal with your followers and the favor will eventually come back around.
“Invite these people to take advantage of the content you curate by signing up to receive and share it.”
Go out and get started! Be sure to contribute a mix of content from originals to other sources on your channel to drive in new traffic. Especially social media channels with more traffic than your own page. While these are not the only way to increase your social reach, these 4 tips are a good place to get started.
