You Review Me and I'll Review You...

In a recent TechCrunch article, Aimee Millwood (@aimeemillwood) described the risk of reviewing the reviewer. A practice done by Airbnb, Uber and many service and rental marketplaces. She says that reviews need to be standardized and verified.
Here are her recommendations.
- Clear-cut standards
- Ensure reviews are not retaliatory and offer anonymity
- Reduce the stigma of negative reviews
Two-way reviews are what separates peer-to-peer marketplaces from other ecommerce sites.
Aimee is right, there should be clear-cut standards, however, we would add that not only should those standards need to be consistent across all marketplaces but one's personal review from one marketplace should be carried into other marketplaces. A trust credit score.
There's no doubt reviews are the new way of measuring quality and trust, so we're excited to see which startup will solve the need for standarization.
